Continuing our staff showcasing, here’s Tia, our Sales and Events coordinator. Tia has moved around within the business and we thought she was the perfect example of the avenues available when you join us at Elite Pubs.
I came to this company by chance; my best friend introduced me to Elite Pubs through the referral scheme. I had just started my degree and wanted to find work that I could do around this, since I already had experience as waitress, for me it made sense. Before this point, I actually hadn’t heard of Elite Pubs, however, when I asked my friends and family they all advised how much they loved the food and how beautiful the venues were.
I joined The Potting Shed in April of 2021, so I have just celebrated my 4th year in the company. I spent just over 2 years at The Potting Shed and I am approaching my 2nd year as a Sales and Events Coordinator
My favourite part of the job is running all types of events, no two events are the same. I work with customers to help organise special occasions, from weddings, birthdays and even family reunions. However, I also run events such as the Tribute Nights, being able to see that event from start to finish comes with its challenges but it is so rewarding to see the end results.
The sense of community is what truly stands out for me, everyone is so friendly and extremely supportive.
I have a few favourite aspects of the pubs, all for different reasons, I love going to The Lazy fox as the views over the valley are stunning. I enjoy going to The Potting Shed as well, more for the nostalgia factor, I spent a long time there, and some of the people I worked with are still very close friends of mine. However, a new favourite of mine is The Wildshark Vineyard, I have done several tours here already, and each time I can’t get over how amazing the place is, it is so peaceful and calming.
Doing this role has made me realise how much I enjoy organising and running events, from speaking to acts and suppliers to see the final result is so rewarding. Not only this it is so much fun. In the future I would like to stay on this path of running and hosting events.
Advice for someone looking to get into the industry I would say you would need a lot of patience, the industry is not easy, but it is extremely rewarding. Hard work really takes you far and it helps you enjoy the challenges that you may face.
