We sat down with Grace, our Group Sales and Marketing Manager, to offer insight and advice for a successful career at Elite Pubs.
“Having got my first job in hospitality at the age of 18, 3 years ago I decided I wanted to gain more experience, specifically in events. I was excited by the values that Elite Pubs held.
I started in 2018 as a Sales and Events Assistant. Having worked in this role for a year I was promoted to a Senior Sales and Events Coordinator. In 2020, just two years from when I first joined Elite Pubs, I was promoted to Group Sales and Marketing Manager. The best part of my role is training and mentoring my staff. It’s important to me that staff are given the tools to be successful and I think personal development should always be prioritised.
From a management perspective, the main quality I look for when spotting talent for progression is passion, sometimes it can outweigh experience. The best thing about our team here at Elite Pubs is that every individual is passionate, excited, and opinionated. Above all, they are dedicated.
My advice to anybody seeking a career in marketing or events is to be open to the hours and dedication that hospitality requires. When you walk into the industry, you need to be willing to learn, but once you have that knowledge and the drive, you are ready to kick-start your career.”
