Why you chose to join elite?
I chose to join Elite as I wanted to experience working within a company rather than an independent pub. I chose to join at The Wishful Thinker because it’s Elite’s newest pub and I wanted to be a part of growing the business into what it is today and in the future. Being a part of a bigger company has allowed me to have options in progression and feel really supported.
How long have you been with elite pubs?
I have been with Elite Pubs for nearly 2 years. Time has really flown by, especially with such a lively and vibrant pub. There’s always new events going on, not to mention new menus and cocktails. Summer can be our busiest time as we’re situated near to a wedding venue so we get a lot of wedding guests as well!
How has your job role progressed?
I started at the pub as a waitress and I’ve recently been promoted to Deputy Manager. This has been a quick progression for me and I’ve learned a lot along the way – I love a challenge and it’s definitely been that. Learning all things hospitality across bedrooms, events, private events, menu changes and more has been a real hit the ground running type of sitatuation.
How have you found the personal development plan?
I have found the personal development plan very helpful in gaining my confidence and knowledge within my job and in general. Stepping out of my comfort zone has been a really important factor in helping my growth within Elite Pubs. Being supported by my peers, management and HR has aided me to gain the tools I needed to progress.
What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of the job is working with great people and interacting with the customers. The Wishful Thinker holds a lot of events as well as having 17 bedrooms so it’s a real challenge to balance all the aspects of the pub.
Advice for anyone looking to follow the same career path as you?
I started as a very shy person who was always nervous to talk to people, so never think you cant do it no matter how you start as you will grow into a different more confident person who can think on their feet and adapt to all situations.
